Vinted Users Share Displeasure Regarding Sizing Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has altered its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all users about the change.
Digital Channels Response
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Modifications
Previously, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she said.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
