Two Victims Revealed in the Ivy League School Incident as Law Enforcement Continue Search for Gunman.

The pair of scholars who were killed in Saturday’s violent attack on the university campus had tributes paid to them on Monday – while an intensive search for their killer persisted following the freeing by Rhode Island officials of the only individual of interest in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was described as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, as stated by the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which honored her memory at a ceremony on Sunday.

Cook was second-in-command of Brown’s chapter of the College Republicans organization, as the club stated. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also shared words of sorrow publicly, remarking: “It's indescribable. Remembering her loved ones and companions, particularly her mother and father.”

An International Student

The other deceased individual was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek national in his initial year at the Ivy League university, according to relatives.

The victim's identification was confirmed by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He harbored grand aspirations of entering the field of neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sibling Samira said in a memorial statement.

What Happened

Nine other people were wounded in Saturday’s attack in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Authorities said late Sunday that a man aged 24 taken into custody in a police operation at a lodging about 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was being released.

“A perpetrator remains free,” said Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you must reassess and pursue a different angle, and this is precisely what occurred over the last 24 hours or so.”

Public Fear

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, noted: “We know that this is likely to cause fresh anxiety for our city”.

The gunman opened fire inside a lecture hall in the engineering facility on Saturday afternoon, shooting over four dozen bullets from a 9mm pistol, a police source told the media outlet.

Police that entered the lodging found two firearms and two loaded 30-round magazines when the suspect was detained, according to reports.

Those Hurt

Among those wounded, one pupil was released from the hospital, mentioned Brown’s president, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in grave but unchanging health, and one remained in critical care, police said on Sunday.
